How our belt drier works & top tips for new Biomass Installations.

Belt Drier Principle of OperationThe Perry belt drier is proving to be a popular choice for drying. It is capable of drying everything from woodchip, to digestate, to grass or waste material, it really is one of the most flexible means of drying materials; one machine that can dry everything!

One of the first questions we get asked about our Belt Drier is “How does it work?” To help answer that we put together this simple drawing.

The basic principle of operations is as followed:

Cold air is drawn through the heat exchangers where it is heated to the required temperature. The warm air is then drawn down through the product bed and belt and dispersed through the fans.

The Perry Belt Drier can be adjoined to a variety of in house manufactured handling equipment to feed and discharge the driers, including: store conveyors, belt and bucket elevators, augers and screw conveyors, in addition to many more handling solutions and offers optional extras such as product agitators and temperature controlled sections. Our belt drier has the ability to be completely tailored to your needs.

If you are considering installing a Biomass system then we have some top tips for you!

We often find when designing a biomass system, these 4 key points are not considered until either planning is completed or at the point of installation, when really, it’s too late!

Here are our top 4 additional elements you should consider:

1)      Is there enough room for a lorry to tip & turn when a delivery is made?

2)      When building your woodchip store or using an existing building, and allocating a required storage capacity have you considered the angle of repose of woodchip?

3)      Will the system fit in with the area aesthetically?

4)      Using systems with blowers can be noisy, will this become a nuisance?
